About the Butler Family
The Butler family has come a long way, and they are proud to stand as your allies.
Cathy and Stan Butler have been hard workers. Raised on small farms, they moved to Peoria in 1980 determined to build a traditional All-American life. Cathy broke barriers in finance, while Stan climbed the corporate ladder. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and acceptance. Their sons, Brian and Chris, along with their sons-in-law, Carlos Butler-Vale and Joey Franco are successful professionals living in Chicago—who also happen to be gay. As Stan and Cathy continue to learn to be the parents their sons need they’ve embraced an even greater joy: becoming grandparents to Sofia.
The Butlers treasure both their biological family and the chosen family. Their message is simple: “Become a better version of yourself than you were raised to be.” Whether your childhood was difficult or quiet, you hold the power to shape a brighter future and polish the corner of the world in which you live.
They hope this library becomes a safe space for you—a place to relax, reflect, and recharge. Keep dreaming. They are, too.
“You didn’t come this far to only come this far.”
