HIV Prevention Options

Be PrEP-ared for anything!

PrEP is a once daily medication or injection that greatly reduces your risk of contracting HIV. PrEP is a great option for the partners of those living with HIV, those who use injection materials, or those with multiple partners.

Put some PEP in your step!

PEP is a 28-day pill regimen that can be effective in preventing the transmission of HIV post-exposure. PEP must be stared no more than 72 hours after a possible exposure to HIV, and the sooner the better.

Please note that neither PrEP or PEP are 100% effective at preventing the contraction of HIV and should be paired with other safe sex practices like condoms and regular testing.

HPV & Hepatitis A Vaccinations

Central Illinois Friends provides free HPV & Hep A vaccinations regardless of insured status.

The HPV vaccine can be administered as early as 9 years old. Only 2 doses are needed if the first dose was given before the age of fifteen. Folks older than 15 when the start the vaccination series will need 3 doses.

The HPV vaccines can help prevent against a wide range of HPV-related cancers, including cervical, anal, vaginal, and vulvar cancers.

We are able to provide HPV vaccinations for free thanks to the generous contributions of the Brooke Crawmer Joseph Foundation. Learn more about Brooke and her legacy by clicking the link below.

The Hep A vaccine is generally administered as part of routine childhood vaccinations. It is recommended that those who use injection materials, individuals engaging in anal sex, and individuals who frequently travel internationally should get this vaccination if they have not already.
