At Central Illinois Friends we understand that the clients we work with often have unique concerns when accessing support for mental healthcare. Our mental health services seek to empower our clients in their healing journey by providing uplifting professional and peer-led programming.

Transitional Psychiatry

Through a partnership with UICOMP, Central Illinois FRIENDS is able to offer free transitional psychiatric care with Dr. Thomas Boyd. This programs is designed to assist folks who have fallen out of care and are seeking support for short term psychiatric support.

This program seeks to reduce barriers in accessing care:

· Assisting clients navigating new mental health concerns
· Medication management
· Needing to be stabilized before being referred to long term care.

Telehealth options are available by request, however, we do request initial intake be done in-person.

ACCESS Counseling Program

Central Illinois Friends is proud to offer completely free counseling for LGBTQ+ folks and their families through our partnership with Whole Life Solutions. This program allows us to provide much needed mental health support for those who are uninsured or who’s insurance may not cover counseling. For a full eligibility screening please contact our office at (309) 431-5880 and ask to speak to our health navigation office.

Appointments are offered in Peoria Tuesday – Friday and in Bloomington-Normal on Fridays. Telehealth options available.

Social & Support Groups

We understand that a part of any healing journey is finding a safe space to connect with peers and share our experiences. As part of our programming Friends offers counselor-led support groups for our clients to find connections outside of the clinical space.
